Bringing together works by 38 artists, Grief and Pleasure focuses on all bodily mechanisms that enable contradictory states such as grief and pleasure to co-exist, along with emotions such as happiness, sadness, anger, fear, surprise, disgust, contempt and shame. The exhibition features works produced in a range of media including painting, photography, sculpture, video and installation.
Dealing with the limits and subtleties of the contemporary human body, its role within the complex web of past and present as well as its ethical and social parameters, the exhibition holds a mirror to the changing values and norms in society through the human vessel.
